I've made some lovely friends through writing, and especially through the RNA. Good luck with your writing, I'm sure we'll both get there in the end, and we can raise a glass when we meet an an RNA conference/party :)Anita Chapmanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08643609708390860371noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7837881372529525579.post-6122473848961600952016-09-27T13:34:27.973+01:002016-09-27T13:34:27.973+01:00Writing is hard, Anita, so it's so lovely to h...Writing is hard, Anita, so it's so lovely to hear such an honest account of how it's been for you over the past five years, especially as I feel I'm treading a very similar path. Five years ago, I finished the first draft of my first novel and thought it was ready to inflict on the world - how wrong I was! But we're both five years further down the line and you're almost there! Keep going. You have so many friends cheering you on. : )Rae Cowiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10213969901991611348noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7837881372529525579.post-67872463564142037382016-09-26T12:46:26.305+01:002016-09-26T12:46:26.305+01:00Thanks so much, Rosemary! I'm pleased to hear Sienna was still as good - it's one area of Italy I haven't seen yet. I've moved not too far away from where I was born and lived until I was 14 yrs . I keep meaning to visit again but I think the thought of being a stranger in a familiar place holds me back. I'm sure you will be published Anita and I can't wait to read it. I've found that with my second novel, set in the eighteenth century that I didn't have the same difficulty separating myself from the main character as I have done writing a female main character set in the present day.I always thought this was because the way of life was so very different from what I've experienced. But who knows?! :)Anita Chapmanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08643609708390860371noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7837881372529525579.post-41383377599077480062016-09-22T08:27:09.325+01:002016-09-22T08:27:09.325+01:00This is a lovely, reflective, piece Anita. (Although I'm not sure I completely agree with Tracy Chevalier that historical fiction prevents one from slipping into the autobiographical. This risk lies in the characters, their patterns of thought and personalities, in whatever period they are set.) Simon Michaelhttp://www.simonmichael.uknoreply@blogger.com
